Cricket Australian’s National Selection Panel (NSP) has today announced the Australian squad for the upcoming CommBank Women’s Ashes Test Match.

The squad features the same 13 players that took part in the opening three One-Day Internationals, with Queenslander Georgia Voll a chance to make her Test debut.

The match will be the first day-night Test at the MCG and the first women’s Test match at the venue since 1948-49.

Australian squad for the CommBank Women’s Ashes – Test match

  • Alyssa Healy (NSW / Sydney CC) – captain
  • Darcie Brown (SA / Northern Districts CC)
  • Ashleigh Gardner (NSW / Bankstown CC)
  • Kim Garth (VIC / Dandenong CC)
  • Alana King (WA / Midland Guildford CC)
  • Phoebe Litchfield (NSW / Sydney University CC)
  • Tahlia McGrath (SA / Glenelg CC) – vice-captain
  • Beth Mooney (WA / Sandgate-Redcliffe CC)
  • Ellyse Perry (VIC / Dandenong CC)
  • Megan Schutt (SA / Sturt CC)
  • Annabel Sutherland (VIC / Prahran CC)
  • Georgia Voll (QLD / Sandgate-Redcliffe District CC)
  • Georgia Wareham (VIC / Essendon Maribyrnong Park CC)

Cricket Australia’s Head of Performance (Women’s Cricket) and National Selector, Shawn Flegler said:

“We’re pleased with the form of the 13 players that have taken part in the series to date and feel it’s a squad that offers a variety of options when it comes to selecting the makeup of the Test side.

“Alyssa has been named in the squad as a batter only and we’ll give her as much time as we can to prove her fitness ahead of the match.

“Ash will continue to be assessed daily, and her availability for the 3rd T20 remains uncertain. At this stage she is on track to be available for the Test match.

“It’s a reasonably experienced squad have played Tests against India and South Africa in the last couple of years and one we think can beat England over the course of four days.

“There’s no bigger occasion than a pink-ball Test at the MCG and there’s no doubt the team will be looking to claim the four points up for grabs.”

The CommBank Women’s Ashes is a multi-format series, consisting of three ODIs, three T20Is and a Test match. Across the series, teams are awarded two points for each ODI and T20I win, while a Test win is worth four points. If a match is drawn the points are shared.

The team that accumulates the most points at the end of the series will be awarded the Ashes. Australia has held the Ashes since retaining the trophy in 2015.

Fans can watch all the action when Australia takes on England live on the Seven Network, 7Plus, Fox Cricket, Kayo Sports, ABC Radio and Triple M (T20Is).

Tickets for the summer are available at cricket.com.au.
