DILUSHI HANSIKA KUMARI A MULTIFACETED ARTISTE WORKS IN SEVERAL CREATIVE MEDIUMS-by Sunil Thenabadu
It is with undeniably innate talent for acting sans any hereditary affiliations Dilushi Hansika has attained her admiration .She is a graduate in the Kelani University Honours Degree in International Relations await to sit for her Masters. She had entered to the stage, added she could fight only with those who could fight with only ones who would challenge her. She confesses that to take advantages of one’s beauty figure is not everlasting but only with one’s education that makes one to survive without bending one’s head to anybody. She emphasised that one’s education qualifications are the utensils or weapons for the triumph of any female. Dilushi came to limelight in portraying her first role as Vinuli in the mega teledrama Dharani after she was chosen as the second runner up in Derana Avurudu Kumari contest in year 2020 after which was selected via screen test before electing..The role in this mega teledrama consisted of three hundred and ninety five episodes , in which her role of Dharani portrayed was of a young lass who was against injustice who fought for inequality The role to portray was a bit of challenging with typical issues she faced as a student hence to portray was not easy as an individual attached to family..
Dilushi is a resident of Katubedda in Rawatawatta is the eldest sibling having two younger two brothers who too are also bright in studies are in universities. It is Dilushi who decides on their hair styles but allowing them to grow which says only while in the universities they could nurture their hair which is forbidden when they start to work. Also when the duo cannot obtain extra pocket money from the parents she is approached when she always obliges Her elder younger brother is supposed to be the brightest among the trio while the younger brother is used to quarrel with mother asking for permission to go out in the evenings as other boys in his age were allowed by their parents for which permission was never approved by her mother. Father is a reputed businessman while mother assists in his business activities is a typical housewife shoulders the entire family burdens singlehandedly, very strict to all siblings even though they are grown up still beat them for slightest faults made. But the entire family is used to deliberate, converse their issues in a very affable tradition has elaborated that the family bonds in every family should be rigid, for which the children do not hurdle, which has demonstrated from her family accomplishing to ultimately triumphs. Mother always accompanies Dilushi to all her events.
.Dilushi confesses in school she could execute on any given event other than sports, she says she just cannot partake in athletics events at school other than a trivial in an inter house event but actively was involved in all other activities in school and in all island schools competitions at which she had invariably triumphed. While in school she was extremely interested in entering to the Peradeniya campus as it was located in a picturesque environment and also having heard there are ‘Lassana Aiyyala’.
Dilushi was educated initially up to grade five at the Girl’s High School Mt Lavinia thereafter at the Holy Family convent Dehiwala. She recollects having shone in academics and extra curricular activities having participated in the school’s western band too. While in grade 9 she was awarded a badge as a school’s youngest prefect the applause she received from the auditorium lingers still in her memory reminiscing her accomplishment. It is from where she entered the university of Kelaniya. Dilushi owns a lot to her school Holy Family Convent and her Sri Wakista Dah am Pasela Sunday school in Rawatawatta from which she was initially groomed to attain her stage skills, debating ,presenting and speech which assisted her to dominate in such spheres in school.. From her younger days it was her participation in temple drama activities under the guidance and path of Venerable Kassapa thero from that grooming she had continued to impress in school dramas and dancing too for which she possesses in abundance with an innate flair.
She reminisces the names of teachers Kusum,Udeni and Buddhika who assisted her to dominate in school dramas and more particularly in dancing agendas. Her talent in dancing in enormous constantly invited to lead dance recitals on numerous stages like in Derana anniversary celebrations at which Dilushi had led the dance troupe magnificently in a sparking performance making the audience spellbound . She has been in many popular dance ‘covers’ well known to dance enthusiasts. In the same television dialogue she admitted that her life to date had sailed smoothly sans any obstacles which may have been to merits accumulated in her previous births according to her acceptance. Dilushi is a competent debater and speaker having trained initially at the Sunday school in Rawatawatta,says on a given topic she is well versed in she could go on speaking until she is asked to sojourn. Dilushi while in school had presented at many school functions to acclaim applause, The foundation she obtained had helped her to participate in other than in academic studies in many extracurricular activities like drama, debating, dancing, western band and presenting had won first places more often than not becoming a very widespread branded girl in the school. She had been taken by her mother to learn acting culture by going to workshops also for singing to music classes of legendary Nanda Malini although she admits does not possess a huge talent for singing but could sing when requested as proved in many television programs like ‘Tharu Samaga Tharu’ telecast on Sirasa TV.. At school in her final year, she had become the school’s best allrounder having selected the subjects – economics, logic and political science.
As Dilusha’s Z score was relatively average she was selected to Kelani University to follow International Relations also to follow German language, nevertheless her intentions had been to trail law in the Colombo university. Dilusha had really known about the Kelani University only after she had entered to it which too is a fully equipped as the other universities. At the university she has had a girl gang in Visala, Vinuri, Thathsarani, Pramodika and a solitary male Aiyya who was described by Dilushi as a‘kokka’, all of them had gone everywhere together, but during the ‘COVID” era the ;Kokka’ had been dropped. Dilushi reminisces that most are abroad having completed their ‘Masters’ only she and another remain in Sri Lanka.After her degree Dilushi too had paid money for her Masters’ degree but owing to commitments in teledramas she has had to postpone it.
To a question posed by a presenter as to how Dilushi broke into this field. It had commenced when at the Kelani University there is a fashion designing competition to which students from other universities also participate. There Dinushi had met a girl by the name of Chethi who had clicked with her for her modelling role. She after becoming even close family friends had proposed Dilushi to apply for the Derana Avurudu Kumari competition ,her triumph had been instrumental in paving the way for the elevated position she is now in. The presenter in a television program questioned Dilushi about life now and then with the latest technology. As anyone could describe with the latest technology there is a drastic change, all with a mobile on hand tuning to you tube, even elders do not tune to frequency modulated radio channels. Dilusha added that she was lucky not to own a mobile when she was schooling which would have undoubtedly changed her pathway to stardom. as she is well aware about her addiction to the mobile currently. Dilushi believes most of the younger generation today are not aware of this danger for their future education by been addicted to mobiles.

At a television confrontation the question was asked to reminisce an important event in her life, she related the story of how she initially met her husband who possesses delightful qualities though engaged not married yet.On a day before going to a concert at the Viharamahadevi stage she had decided from that day she would decide on her own what she should do and to look after her parents with her money, had gone to Vogue jewellers had purchased her first jewellery item a ring, taken mother for pedicure and manicure treatments decided from that day it would be Dilusha who would be looking after her. On watching the concert another group had been viewing the concert from behind. Eccentrically one boy instead of watching the concert had been continuously looking at Dilushi.The group had approached them, taken group photos , the interested boy had not known she was an actress but his friend had told him. She is Dilushi an actress, This group had messaged her friend Eresha which during a short time come to a settlement. Dinushi has added on many occasions that he possesses unique qualities for which thanks the universe, she expresses she is considered very fortunate. At a television program where Dilushi’s parents too participated her mother added the son in law possess better qualities than Dilusha The duo is to tie the nuptial knot soon but as both have been spoon fed born with silver spoon in hand in the respective homes, not used to washing ,cooking and housekeeping the two are worried how the duo could commence a family home. In a lighter vain Dilusha said to be like this as long as possible would prevent facing this obstacle .Dilushi is very keen to have a ‘tattoo’ on her body which she said if she does she would be chased away from home hence she awaits until she moves to new dwelling.
Dilusha is someone with many talents is inherently versatile. She could adapt to new situations and challenges with remarkable ease.
