Sri Lanka’s two para athletes Dinesh Priyantha Herath and Samitha Dulan excelled at the Australian Open Athletic Meet when Dinesh won a gold medal in the F46 Javelin throw event with a 63.18m distance while Samitha Dulan won F44 Javelin throw silver medal with a 64.20m distance throw.

Sri Lankan three-member team Dinesh Priyantha Herath, Samitha Dulan and Palitha Bandara took part in this meet with coach Pradeep Nishantha.

The Paralympic gold medal winner Dinesh Priyantha Herath took part in this meet after a one and half-year lay off due to injury and this was a good comeback before the next Paralympic Games in France. In fact the achievement of this meet is very important to Sri Lankan Para athletes to improve their World ranking focussing on Next Paralympic Games in France in 2024.
