There is always something special about seeing a fellow Thomian excel, particularly when the talents nurtured through school, faith and life are used in the service of others.
On Saturday, 5 September 2026, Sydney will have a very special opportunity to welcome
Dr Sean Amarasekara, a distinguished Old Boy of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia (batch of 1969) for his first performance in Sydney, when he takes centre stage at “Love Changes Everything, A Musical Extravaganza.”
Sean’s story is an inspiring one.
While achieving distinction in his professional life as a medical doctor, he has continued to nurture the remarkable artistic gifts that have been part of his life from an early age. A gifted vocalist, chorister, actor, singer-songwriter and musical theatre performer, Sean has demonstrated that professional achievement need never diminish the talents and passions with which one has been blessed.
Many Thomians will also remember Sean’s contribution to the historic 175th Anniversary celebrations of S. Thomas’ College in Colombo, where he presented this special musical performance to considerable acclaim. Its originality, versatility and sheer quality made it a memorable feature of the celebrations and showcased, in a very special way, the breadth of talent of a fellow Thomian. Sydney audiences will now have the opportunity to experience that same distinctive performance for the first time.
There is something wonderfully Thomian about that journey, the pursuit of excellence, versatility, service and the confidence to use one’s gifts wherever life may lead.
On 5 September 2026, Sean brings those gifts to Sydney for an evening featuring a rich repertoire of much-loved Broadway favourites, Gospel music and popular favourites.
But this will be much more than a musical performance.
The evening is being presented by ‘Channels of Peace (COPE)’, a Sydney-based not-for-profit organisation supporting outreach and compassionate ministries in Sri Lanka. Proceeds from Love Changes Everything will help COPE continue its commitments of service in remote communities, ministry training and practical outreach among the poor and vulnerable.
So, while we gather to enjoy the talents of an outstanding fellow Thomian, we will also be helping to make a difference in the lives of others.
We warmly invite all Thomians in Sydney, their spouses, families and friends, to come together and support Sean on this very special occasion.
Better still, gather a group of old school friends and make up a table. It promises to be an opportunity to renew friendships, share a wonderful dinner, enjoy exceptional music and experience once again that unmistakable fellowship which binds Thomians across generations and across continents.
Families with young children are especially welcome. Children under 5 attend FREE, while children aged 6–15 are $35, with supervised entertainment in an adjoining room and a kids’ meal of pizza and ice cream provided.
