The New York times ran a front page rave review– in its Arts Section — of the new broadway play “Life of Pi”–about a 17-year-old youth floating in the high seas on a boat with a tiger onboard. this was also the subject of a 2012 movie.
The lead role of Pi Patel is played by Hiran Abeysekera. The drama critic’s verdict comes in the final two sentences of the review: “That roaring you will hear at the show’s end? It’s the sound of a standing ovation”. It is playing at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in Manhattan in New York City.

Wins Fourth Prize Again
Sri Lankan Body builder 40 year old Lucion Pushparaj won fourth place in the world once again at the Arnold Classic Amateur Bodybuilding Championship held in the US this year. For this tournament held in Columbus, Ohio, US, Lucion competed in the super heavyweight category. He won fourth place in this tournament last year as well. The Arnold Sports Festival is one of the world’s largest multi-sport events, drawing more than 10,000 spectators from more than 80 countries to Columbus. |

Rare Black Leopard
Captured on Camera in Yala
A rare black leopard was captured on camera by local and foreign tourists inside the Yala National Park. Safari jeep driver “KG” said that he saw the animal cross from one side of the path to the other. He said that the animal was first seen on a rock and it then crossed the pathway to the other side with its mother. KG said that he has been conducting safari tours for around 30 years in Yala and this was the first time he spotted a black leopard. |

passed away on January 22, 2023. Husband of the late Romanie Abeysinghe.
Father of Ronika Wijerathna and Rishinika Dasanayaka, sons-in-law, Kosala Wijerathna and Panduka Dasanayaka, granddaughters, Shayleena, Avyanna, and Savanah, and grandsons, Peyton and Preston.
The memorial service will be at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, 32032 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village. There will be a reception following the memorial service.

Recipes From Roma’s Kitchen
Fiery Citrus Salsa
INGREDIENTS
1green apple
2 fresh red chillies, halved and seeded
1garlic clove
8 fresh mint leaves
juice of 1 lemon
salt and ground black pepper
METHOD
1.Slice the bottom off the orange so that it stands
firmly on a chopping board. Using a large, sharp
knife, remove the peel slicing from the top of the
orange.
2.Fold the orange in one hand over the bowl.Slice
towards the middle of the fruit, to one side of a
segment, and then gently twist the knife to ease
the segment away from the membrane and out
of the orange. Remove to remove all of the segments
and squeeze any juice from the remaining membrane.
3.Peel the apple, slice it into wedges and remove
the core.
4.Place the chillies in a blender or food processor
with the orange segments and juice, apple wedges,
garlic and mint.
5.Process until smooth, with the motor running,
pour in the lemon juice.
6.Season, pour into a bowl or small pitcher and serve
immediately.
SERVES 4
This very unusual Salsa makes a fantastic marinade
for all kinds of shell fish, and it is deliciuos when drizzled
over freshly barbecued meat.
If you are feeling really fiery, don’t seed the chillies!
That will make the Salsa particularly hot and fierce!
