Veterinary surgeon lifts Masterchef trophy Brin Pirathapan
A veterinary surgeon whose love of cooking is inspired by his Sri Lankan heritage has been crowned the 20th winner of BBC TV’s Masterchef. Brin Pirathapan, 29, from Chelmsford, impressed judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace to beat 57 others in this year’s amateur contest.
He was working as a veterinary surgeon in Bristol before entering the show, and said he had watched the show since he way a boy.

Sherwin Jayah (73) of North Hills, Ca. Passed Away on May 27th, 2024. Beloved husband of Sha, loving father of Shehan and Razlan, father in law of Zahra, loving grandfather of Noah, Jasmine, and Zain, son of late M.B Jayah (Junda) and Baby Jayah, son in law of Hilar Bansajayah (Nona), brother of Late Zeeniya, Sheharani Jamalon, Razma Jayah, brother in law of Raji Bangsajayah, Jean and Hussain Jayman, and Zaman Jamalon. The funeral was on May 29th 2024 at Forest Lawn in Cypress, Ca.

Laurell Caspersz(nee Cramer)(93) of Wentworthville, NSW, Australia, passed away on June 7, 2024 – Eldest daughter of late Carl and Bertha Cramer, wife of late Milburn. Mother of Desiree, Jennifer and Gail. Sister of the late Joan, Carl, Errol, Peter and of Arlene and Marita. Funeral will be held in Australia.

- 16 fresh large asparagus spears (about 1 lb./500g)
- 6 cups (1.5liters) water mixed with 1 tablespoon of salt
- Ice water
