Today, I’m excited to share my wonderful trip to Hiriketiya Beach in southern Sri Lanka with you. Tucked into a perfect crescent bay at the very south of Sri Lanka, just 10 minutes from Dikwella and 20 minutes from Tangalle, Hiriketiya is the spot everyone’s talking about — but somehow it still feels like a secret.

On the Right side: Gentle, peeling waves — perfect for beginners and first-timers. Left side: Faster, hollower waves for intermediates who want a bit more thrill.
Local surf schools and board rentals are right on the beach so that you can go from zero to riding waves in one afternoon.
Now, here’s the vibe! Chill, barefoot, and creative. Think cliffside cafes with smoothie bowls, yoga decks at sunrise, beach bars with fire shows at night, and backpackers + families + digital nomads all mixing. No cars on the sand. Just music, waves, and sunsets.
