IMAL RANAWAKA MODEL ,BODY BUILDING INSTRUCTOR ANGAMPORA ARTISTE DREAMS TO BECOME AN ACTOR POSSESSING ALL CREDENTIALS – by Sunil Thenabadu
All aspire in life having hope on many prospects. Imal Ranawaka is one who has one stern aspiration of becoming a film combat artiste to which he has already laid footing with all vital credentials as a youngster .Imal is slowly and surely progressing towards his objective. Imal had been born in Deniyaya, as the only child now lives in Colombo had attended Dharmapala Vidyalaya Pannipitiya.As the only child is looked after very well by his parents, father a forces personnel and mother has her own vocation apart from been a housewife.
Imal has already made his footing towards his goal . Imal is employed as a body building instructor in a reputed institution. Imal is a sought after personality in television commercials, music videos and modelling hence has a busy daily routine. Imal often receives invitations to participate in associated functions. Imal has been in this trade for over five years since year 2017.He is fully contended in his journey to date.Imal had commenced after his secondary education with Angampora art. Angampora is a Sinhalese martial art combines combat techniques, self defense, sport, exercise and meditation. A key component of Angampora is the namesake Angam,which incorporates hand to hand fighting and illangam involving the use of indigenous weapons such as the ethunu kaduwa, staves,knives and swords. It is with his teacher Imal had been able to work in films and teledramas. Also involved in the modelling industry mostly as a weight lifter. Imal is also connected to the stage play art too .But to date he has not been satisfied with the position he is in.But intends to come forward with his Angampora art, which had been his favourite sport from his younger days.Imal had searched about this art , had read books on the Angampora art.By accumulating facts on Angampora art which prevailed in native Sri Lanka since year 2014 immediately after his advanced level examination.
Imal affirms that Aagampora art is at relatively elevated standard at present.Majority of our people do not know about the Angampora art as it was banned during the British regime. The ban is still effective not allowed in public to teach the art. But this was prolonged concurrently with the types of dances like ballet,hip hop and tap dance.For this reason it had been a bit dormant but now it has emerged drawing the keen attention of many .Imal’s guru is knowledgable Ajantha Mahantharachchi. There are many advantages by learning the Angampora art like developing one’s personality, how to behave in society to remain as stand out, which is advantageous to any individual. Imal was fortunate to learn the manner one to face the camera the proper manner which would help when he is called upon to portray a role in films as a combat star which remains a dream of Imal though he presently involved as a model and training Angampora art for eight years but unfortunately there are no such competitions in native Sri Lanka.
In body building Imal had emerged the runner up in a novices body building competitions also was adjudicated as the runner up in a senior Mr Sri Lanka contest. Imal had got the opportunity to portray a role in Sri Siddha film of Sarath Weerasekera.He had got two more invitations for which he had not been able to accept. He had also portrayed a role in a tele drama which has not yet been telecast.
Imal is yet to find a partner says love is something needed in life.He believes that one need not rush to find a fiancé should be patient as it may help one to stride forward or may disrupt one’s career. All Imal’s friends would wish him to navigate over all obstacles to achieve his dreams of becoming a stunt combat actor in our silver screen possessing all credentials.
