Legendary singing Queen Latha Walpola celebrates her 91st Birthday on the 11th November while ITN Lakhanda perpetual existence marks 29 years on the 15th November. To commemorate these two unique milestones a musical concert’ Pem Rajjaye” is planned to be staged at the Musaeus College auditorium on the 07th November.

There are more than 350 popular song duets sung by the popular duo “Latha Dharmadasa” in the decades of 1950, 1960 and 1970’s.At this concert it has been decided to sing twenty seven songs chosen after much deliberation by the family of the legendary duo famed  Mahinda Bandara and wife Dhammika Walpola.

PEM RAJJAYE

The music compositions will befall on Mahinda Bandara who has been instrumental in contributing music to perhaps the most number of Sinhalese songs and sung most song dummy’s before recordings.

The motive of this concert is purely to felicitate the legendary ‘Gee Rajina” Latha Walpola who is now ailing in twilight years with  an illness of deterioration in health situation who also be influenced to sing a song or two perhaps the song ‘Rajina Mamai” It has been decided that all other songs would be sung by the duo Thisara Bandara  his wife Christina Bandara and Dhammika Bandara to the music score of Mahinda Bandara with a guide by Dileepa Abeysekera. This music concert would bring memories of Sinhalese film songs of Latha and Dharmadasa Walpola which are still very much adored and revered by all audiences in native Sri Lanka supported by a competent orchestra..The concert is scheduled to commence at 6.30 PM will be hosted by the competent Kelum Srimal.
