Jaffna police arrest eight over theft of priceless statues-By Dinsena Rathugamage

The Jaffna police have arrested eight persons over the theft of two priceless antique statues of Goddess Parvati, which were recovered by the police, and vehicle spare parts worth Rs 700,000 from a house near Chemmani school.

The owner of the House is living abroad and the caretaker was not at home at the time the burglary took place.

The eight suspects would be produced before courts, police said, adding a separate investigation was underway to find out whether the same gang had been involved in other crimes.
