As many are aware I am a former executive at prestigious Bank of Ceylon for 34years who turned to be a free-lance journalist having  joined the Sunday Leader newspaper as a sports journalist having visited the media box to report on international cricket fixtures, thereafter having got a passion to write articles on various worthwhile topics which were published in all English Newspapers in Sri Lanka which I continue to date. Most articles have been published in the Sunday Times mostly on popular artistes which have thrilled the readers as I had been successful in compiling them with many data not published in any media. All readers of English newspapers in Sri Lanka know me by name as a household name.

Apart from my journalism involvements I am  a keen follower of Sri Lankan music since my migration to Brisbane  over a decade ago (2014) ‘having known many artistes (late Christopher Paul, late Lakshman Wijesekera,Janaka Wickremasinghe, late Lionel Algama,Sujatha Attanayake ,late Neela Wickremasinghe,Anil Barathie personally having lived next to Kala Pura.I never fail to watch all chat and musical programs. One musical legend in this regard who cannot be forgotten is Visharada Manoj Pieris JP all Island who conducts music with his own band “ THREE THAAL”. Which is the sought after band among many others. The leader of this band Visharada Manoj is perhaps one solitary person who invites and arranges the participants in an very impartial manner. Visharada Manoj as all know to have made artistes who are not that competent in singing skills to perform at these musical programs guiding them in all aspects of  singing. This fact many artistes have spoken to the media who have said they are indebted to Manoj for clearing their doubts, nervousness  and making the not so competent  singers to be reckoned with those in par with those known counterparts. In this scenario Manoj I term  him as unselfish KING Manoj.

But sadly in the recent past I am unable to understand why Manoj has been deprived of the opportunity to lead his band “SHRI THAAL” which he had been performing for decades like the “Little Star’ ,  the ‘Champions Star’ weekly programs. This is somewhat of a tragedy as the glamour in these programs are lost to unprecedented low levels sans his presence and his well-known musical band. The only thing I could imagine is that there has to be a political revenge to  disregard him  despite been in an effervescent  dominant voyage in the field of musical entertainment. The authorities of the TV Derana should take a serious of this concern spelt out clearly above .Hope Manoj  as leader of his “ SHRI THAAL” Band is recalled as otherwise for the low quality music provided sans Manoj and his musicians fans will  undoubtedly refrain from watching these popular programs of TV Derana  .So sorry to learn of this plight which is unfortunate for the music fans in mother Lanka.
