It gives me great pleasure to extend my warm congratulations to the editors, contributors and supporters of Daehaena on the occasion of the publication of its 20th Anniversary Edition.
For two decades, Daehaena has served as a valuable platform for the Sri Lankan community in
Queensland, connecting people through news, culture, language, literature and community engagement. The remarkable achievement of publishing continuously for twenty years is a testament to the dedication, perseverance and voluntary spirit of all those who have contributed to this publication.
Community media plays an important role in preserving cultural identity while strengthening connections across generations and between our two countries. Daehaena has not only reflected the experiences and aspirations of Sri Lankans living in Australia, but has also helped foster understanding and goodwill between Sri Lanka and the wider Australian community.
As Sri Lanka and Australia continue to deepen their longstanding friendship and cooperation, the contribution of community organisations and publications such as Daehaena remains invaluable. Your
commitment to informing, engaging and inspiring the community is deeply appreciated.
