Obituary: Amitha Abeynaike

flowers-obituary

To. THE STC DSA ERA GROUP,

It is with great sadness that we note the passing away of Amitha Abeynaike after a brief illness.

At college he was a School Prefect and captain of the Hockey team. After leaving school he was fully involved in sports activities at college. I can’t think of any other Thomian who had done such a workload for the development of Hockey and its players.

As you know, his father, our beloved teacher, later Sub Warden, Mr Orville Abeynaike was the Cricket and Hockey coach for several years during which period he produced some remarkably outstanding Cricketers and Hockey players.

Later in life Amitha was a well respected and popular TV and Radio cricket commentator.

Amitha is the youngest of the four brothers Mohan, Ajith and the late Ranil.

May this Great Thomian Rest in Peace and rise in Glory.

His remains will be at A F Raymond’s funeral parlour from 7.00pm today 30th Sunday, cottage leaves funeral parlour at 4.00pm on the 31st Monday for burial at Jawatte Cemetery.

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the bereaved family members.

With kind regards

Sriyan

on behalf of The STC DSA Era Group,
