Obituary: Mohamed Iqbal

Iqbal passed away in hospital somewhere between the hours of 1am and 2am on Thurs 14 Dec 2023. His daughter had been asleep in a chair at his bedside. Iqbal had only been admitted to hospital 9 hrs earlier and had strength to walk for ambulance staff and was with full mind.

As Iqbal lay in state his face shone not just with peace but with full joy as he had an amazing warming smile by all who were fortunate to see him.
On Saturday 16th his daughter Zan and son Zak held a private farewell for him in line with his wishes. Due to the incredible out pouring of love there were prayer gatherings around the world and two special mosque prayer sessions in Sri Lanka that also happened.  On Sunday five families organised a prayer gathering at his home. There is also an organised 40 day gathering on the 21st Jan 2024.

Iqbal had been ill in hospital 40 days over August and September. He came close to passing in August but revived when home to be able to walk and have a good quality of life. This included watching cricket games. His family see the extra 3 months as a blessing and bonus bestowed upon them. Contrary to what it may seem Iqbal was humble about all the leaders he met and his accomplishments in life. He formed many fine friendships and many messages were relayed to his family of how he will be missed. To his family their father was always true and always shining amongst many other virtues

His family quote from the fifth kalimah
“And (there is) no power and no strength except from God, the Most High, the Most Great.”

Be well Victor
Be happy
Love light peace and joy
Zan and on behalf of Zak
