“SAME-SEX MARRIAGE”(Emphasis on Marriage) NO.!!
“SAME -SEX UNION” (Emphasis on “UNION” ) YES. !!.
Together with about 2 dozen other Countries, Australia has now voted to have “Same-Sex” Marriage”. Under my dual-Country status, I was born in Ceylon & will die in Australia & while baptised, raised by parents who WERE MARRIED, was duly “registered” as a Citizen of Ceylon, married my wife, (a beautiful female-sex(y)person), became the father of two healthy sons & “started-off” our very first, & only beautiful female daughter, before, as a happily married “Couple”, decided to revoke our Lankan one, in order to invoke our Australian Citizenship, shortly after migrating to Melbourne, although neither of us was interested in becoming Politicians. We came here to “work”, not sit on our backsides in Parliment, doing absolutely nothing.
What in the hell has all this got to do with “same-sex” marriage Des ?. Well, don’t get your rainbow-hued bandana tied in a knot, & I will tell you, folks. I will have to find out, tomorrow morning as to whether Sri Lanka is also a Same-Sex Nation now, same as Australia, Canada, & all those other places. I somehow cannot imagine “old Sri Lanka” passing legislation (in Sinhalese), on this issue. As I well remember it, “Love was in the air” everywhere, in Ceylon too, especially in the Royal Ceylon Navy, the Army & Air-Force.
Love was in the air, wherever one looked, all over the World, as we know it, and, come what may, what can I say ?, This is a far nicer word than so many of the other “sad” ones prevalant today. LOVE is fine, be it heterosexual, homosexual, whatever, it has been there, is there, now, & will be there, in the future. No-one can dispute this. However, this article is not about “lau” (as in “May lau-eka hindha lokay”)the very popular Sinhala song I recorded, it is about the English word “Marriage”, which, for better or worse, between a Man and a woman. Look at it anyway you like. This “topic ” takes no sides. I do like the sound of the word “Union”
Let there be “Marriage” for us, Heterosexuals & please, let there be “UNION” for the same-sex couples who wish to be MORE UNITED than they already are, anyway. MARRIAGE simply means the unon of Male & Female. The English language is being tampered-with enough already, with the coming-in of the Internet, so why confuse this International language any further. In my “Lovely Island Home” “Kasadha-Bunindhava” means that a Man & Woman are “getting hitched or married (usually arranged by the “Parents), “same-sex” so far, arranged or disarranged, is not on.
In Australia hiwever, Mr.Malcolm Turnbull, his Government & about 62% of the rest of us have said “YES” to what I would correctly term ” Same-Sex Union”.”YES”, the Country has spoken, Millions of taxpayer dollars have been spent, so it should be “Marriage”for Heterosexuals ONLY & “Union” for Homosexuals ONLY. This is how the new Legislation should go. Nothing could be fairer, in my own opinion, as always. In addition, may I humbly suggest we do-away with these other quaint words (for homisexuals , like “QUEER”, now please tell me if that “AIN’T QUAINT” “GAY”, They sure are Gay now, anyway., If “Love is in the air” in Australia & there are STILL people who prefer their own “sex” as “partners”, I would prefer the simple, pretty name “GALES”. This word would certainly not cause a “STORM” & could incorporate our Lesbians, Transgender & Bi-Sexual friends. Since we are now in Australia, we could all be “Mates-together”.
So, as far as I am concerned, let there be “Same-sex” Union for all Homosexuals, leave”Marriage” for silly buggers like us, Heterosexuals, MULTI-Union or Marriage, to “Suckers for punishment” & “Half their bloody luck” for the Bi-sexuals. Homosexuals, please note. “YOU HAVE NOW GOT THE VOTE,
