SCHOOLS UNDER 19 CRICKET TOURNAMENT DIVISION I TIER B – FINALS

St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya emerged champions of the Under 19 division 1 Tier ‘B’ inter schools 2 day cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and sponsored by Sri Lanka Cricket on yesterday.

St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya won against Lumbini College Colombo in the final played at Mercantile Cricket Association ground (MCA) Colombo on yesterday.

St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya won the toss and elected to bat first. St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya scored 291 runs in 87.5 overs.

Lumbini College Colombo bowled out for169 runs in 41.4 overs for their first inning. Nabeel Rajudeen (44) and Ashan Shanilka (36) only helped to build their innings. Shanon Rodrigo claimed 6 wickets for 55 runs and skipper Vishen Helambage claimed 2 wickets for 38 runs.

Lumbini College Colombo scored 220 runs for 9 wickets in 43 overs in their second inning. Dinitha De Silva (67) and Nabeel Rajudeen (53) made half centuries. Janith Kaushan claimed 3 wickets for 47 runs.

St. Peter’s Bambalapotiya scored 25 runs for one wicket. at the time of going to press
