Sri Lanka’s Fathima Shafiya Yamick delivered an outstanding display of speed and consistency at the 2025 South Asian Athletics Championship held in Ranchi, India, achieving a historic golden sprint treble while setting new meet records in all three events.
The 26-year-old sprinter from Viharamahadevi GC, Kandy, captured gold medals in the women’s 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay, cementing her status as one of Sri Lanka’s most exceptional athletes on the regional stage.
Yamick recorded times of 11.53 seconds in the 100m, 23.58 seconds in the 200m, and 44.70 seconds in the 4x100m relay — each performance rewriting the championship record books and underscoring her dominance in sprinting.
