Special Tourism Development Study Visit for Heads of Foreign Missions Concluded on 21 September 2026
The special tourism development study visit organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism for Heads of Foreign Missions based in Colombo concludes today.
On the first day of the visit (18), the participants visited the Pasikuda beach. A dinner featuring traditional dances reflecting the cultural identity of the Eastern Province was held later that evening. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Hon. Vijitha Herath also attended the dinner. Addressing the gathering, the Minister highlighted the strategic importance and economic potential of the Eastern Province. The participants also visited an exhibition featuring products by small and medium-scale handicraft producers.
Yesterday (19), the delegation visited the Eravur Export Processing Zone in the morning. They then visited the Seruwawila Buddhist Temple, where they participated in Buddhist religious observances. The delegation later visited the Koneswaram Hindu Temple and took part in Hindu religious observances.
An Investment Forum was held at the DSK Hotel in Trincomalee that evening, with the participation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Hon. Arun Hemachandra.
On the third and final day of the visit (20), the delegation visited the Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee and took part in a boat ride. They later visited the Naval Museum. The delegation is scheduled to leave for Colombo at the end of the day.
The three-day visit aims to showcase the cultural, economic, investment and tourism potential of the Eastern Province to the international community, while promoting new opportunities for investment, tourism development and regional cooperation.

කොළඹ සිටින විදේශීය තානාපති කාර්යාල ප්රධානීන් උදෙසා විදේශ කටයුතු, විදේශ රැකියා සහ සංචාරක අමාත්යාංශය මගින් සංවිධානය කරනු ලැබූ විශේෂ සංචාරක සංවර්ධන අධ්යයන සංචාරයේ අවසන් දිනය අදයි.
චාරිකාවේ පළමු දිනයේදී (18) මොවුන් පාසිකුඩා වෙරළ තීරයේ සංචාරයක නිරත විය. අනතුරුව එදින රාත්රියේදී නැගෙනහිර කලාපයේ සංස්කෘතික අනන්යතාව පිළිබිඹු කරන නර්තන වලින් හැඩගැන්වුණු රාත්රී භෝජන සංග්රහයක් පැවැත්වුණු අතර ඊට විදේශ කටයුතු, විදේශ රැකියා සහ සංචාරක අමාත්ය ගරු විජිත හේරත් මහතා සහභාගී විය. එහිදී පිරිස ඇමතූ අමාත්යවරයා නැගෙනහිර පළාතේ උපායමාර්ගික වැදගත්කම සහ ආර්ථික විභවය පිළිබඳව අවධාරණය කළේය. මෙහිදී කුඩා හා මධ්ය පරිමාණ හස්ත කර්මාන්ත නිෂ්පාදකයින්ගේ ප්රදර්ශනයක් සඳහාද පිරිස සහභාගී විය.
ඊයේ (19) පෙරවරුවේදී පිරිස එරාවුර් අපනයන සැකසුම් කලාපයේ සංචාරයක නිරත විය. ඉන්පසුව සේරුවාවිල බෞද්ධ විහාරස්ථානයට පැමිණි පිරිස එහිදී බෞද්ධාගමික වතාවන් සඳහා සහභාගී විය. අනතුරුව කෝනේෂ්වරම් හින්දු දේවස්ථානය බලා පිටත් වූ ඔවුන් එහිදී හින්දු ආගමික වතාවන් වල නිරත වුනි. එදින සවස ත්රිකුණාමලයේ DSK හෝටලයේදී ආයෝජන සංසදයක් පැවැත්වුණු අතර ඊට විදේශ කටයුතු හා විදේශ රැකියා නියෝජ්ය අමාත්ය ගරු අරුණ් හේමචන්ද්ර මහතා සහභාගි විය.
සංචාරයේ තෙවන දිනයේදී (20) ත්රිකුණාමලයේ නාවික තටාංගණය වෙත පැමිණි පිරිස එහිදී බෝට්ටු සවාරියක් සඳහා සහභාගී විය. පසුව ඔවුන් නාවික කෞතුකාගාරයේ සංචාරයක නිරත විය. දිනය අවසානයේ ඔවුන් කොළඹ බලා පිටත් වීමට නියමිතයි.
නැගෙනහිර පළාතේ සංස්කෘතික, ආර්ථික, ආයෝජන සහ සංචාරක විභවතාවයන් ජාත්යන්තරයට හඳුන්වා දීමත්, ආයෝජන, සංචාරක සංවර්ධනය සහ කලාපීය සහයෝගීතාව සඳහා නව අවස්ථා ප්රවර්ධනය කිරීමත් මෙම තෙදින සංචාරයේ අරමුණයි.
