SriLankan Airlines proudly celebrated the seventh anniversary of its Melbourne-Colombo route, a milestone underscoring the airline’s commitment to connecting Sri Lanka, Australia, and beyond.

Launched in 2017, the route has played a pivotal role in linking Sri Lankan expatriates, students, and tourists to Melbourne while offering seamless connections to destinations across India and South Asia.

The Melbourne-Colombo route has witnessed consistent growth over the years, emerging as one of SriLankan Airlines’ top-performing services.

Its popularity among travelers visiting family and friends or vacationing between Australia and South Asia highlights the route’s cultural and economic significance.

Dimuthu Tennakoon, Head of Worldwide Sales & Distribution for SriLankan Airlines, shared: “As we celebrate this milestone, we will continue exploring opportunities to expand our network and support the growth of this vital route.

With a strong foundation built over the past seven years, SriLankan Airlines is well-positioned to enhance connectivity and promote tourism between Sri Lanka and Australia.”

V. Ravindran, Regional Manager Asia Pacific, expressed gratitude for the success: “This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our team.

We look forward to delivering exceptional service and strengthening ties between Australia and Sri Lanka.

Our commitment to providing unmatched travel experiences remains steadfast as we explore new opportunities for growth.”

Award-Winning Service on Modern Aircraft

SriLankan Airlines operates the Airbus A330-300 and 200 series aircraft on the Melbourne-Colombo route, offering daily services with Flights UL604 and UL605.

Passengers enjoy modern comforts and the airline’s renowned, award-winning in-flight service, further enhancing the travel experience.

Community Engagement and Strategic Partnerships

Beyond flights, SriLankan Airlines has strengthened its presence in Australia through active engagement with the local community.

Initiatives include supporting events organized by Sri Lankan expatriate organizations and sponsoring major sporting events such as the Melbourne Half Marathon and the Great Ocean Road Running Festival. These efforts not only boost brand visibility but also foster deeper cultural connections.

The airline has further cemented ties with Invest Victoria and the state government, reinforcing its mission to promote tourism and cultural exchange while showcasing Sri Lanka as a top travel destination.

A Celebration of Connection and Growth

The seventh anniversary of SriLankan Airlines’ service to Melbourne is more than a milestone; it symbolizes the growing connections between two vibrant cultures and economies.

As the airline looks ahead, travelers can expect enhanced connectivity, seamless travel options, and exceptional service that strengthens the bonds between Australia and Sri Lanka.
