SUNDAY CHOICE – WHEN MY SPIRIT IS WEAK – by Charles Schokman

When your spirit feels weak, God is not disappointed in you; rather, He invites you to exchange your exhaustion for His supernatural strength. In the Christian faith, feeling spiritually weak is not a sign of failure, but a pivot point where your human limitations meet God’s unlimited grace.
The Divine Exchange: Your Weakness for His Power.
When you have nothing left to give, God does His most profound work. You do not have to muster up artificial energy or fake your way through the fatigue.
- His Grace is Enough: In 2 Corinthians 12:9, Jesus promises, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Your empty cup is the exact space God uses to pour in His life.
- The Holy Spirit Intercedes: When you are too tired to even figure out what to pray, Romans 8:26 reminds us that the “Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” He understands your silent tears and heavy heart.
- He Renews Your Energy: Isaiah 40:29 declares, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” God is your ultimate source of spiritual stamina.
- How to Respond When Your Spirit is Low.
- Surrender the burden: Stop trying to carry the weight of your circumstances alone and intentionally give it to the Creator.
- Rest in His presence: Shift your focus from what you should be doing to simply being quiet before the Lord.
- Claim His promises: Speak scriptures of hope over your situation, even if your emotions haven’t caught up to your faith yet.
- Listen to worship: Songs like the widely shared gospel hymn “When My Spirit Is Weak” can provide immediate comfort and voice the cries of your heart.
. A Prayer for Renewal and Strength: Heavenly Father, I come to You today feeling weak, heavy, and completely overwhelmed. My own strength has run out, and I cannot carry this weight by myself. I place my trust completely in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
You are welcome to pass this on.
