“GOLDEN MEMORIES” – by Des Kelly The Composer of this song was Blaze Foley. Sung by the late, great, Merle Haggard, no better ‘cover’ should even be contemplated, this beautiful song tells the story that most lovers sometimes have to endure. I am no exception to the rule, now just regretting the fact that I have to say exactly the same thing. “IF I COULD ONLY FLY” This is yet another “Kelly-Klassic”. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’ Lanka. ...

“IN A NUTSHELL”-by Des Kelly   Some famous last words, spoken and otherwise. Martha Beck, an American Murderess, convicted and executed in 1951, spoke these words shortly before her final hour on earth. “My story is a love story, but only those who are tortured by love can know what I mean. I was pictured as a fat, unfeeling woman. True, I am fat, but, if that is a crime, how many of my sex are guilty ?. I am not unfeeling, stupid or moronic.. “FISHING FOR COMPLIMENTS” – by Des Kelly   Cannot say that I have had the privilege of knowing Richard Rodrigo personally, but possibly realizing that our friend Keith Bennett was feeling a bit hungry around lunch time, he “posted” in this biography on a fish that I had never heard of (not being much of a fish-eater), called the Monkfish. I found this story to be most interesting and feel sure that our esteemed e’Lanka readers will agree with me, so thank you Keith and Richard for sending this in. I really don’t think that either of the gentlemen are “fishing for compliments”, but THESE are the kind of “posts” most avid readers would prefer to read, hungry or not. ...

“A CHAPTER ON COMEDY” – by Des Kelly   It had to come from Charles Schokman of course, and e’Lanka says “thank you” to both “Charlies” involved. The Chaplain that Schokman is referring to, in this most interesting story, is of course The former Knight of the British Empire, Sir Charles Chaplain, mostly famous as a comical British Actor, who brought smiles and laughter to millions of folk around the Globe, who watched Charlie’s antics on Cinema Screens everywhere. Unlike many English Comedians of his era, Charlie Chaplain was not large at all in stature, but, made up for this amply, in the roles he played, with a natural comedic abandon, most brilliantly. However, in addition to his acting, Sir C.C. was also a Musician of note, whose most famous song Composition was naturally titled “Smile”, a most beautiful piece of music with lyrics to match.  ...
