MAHINDA JERONIMUS IS NO MORE

It is with much sadness that we notify the passing of our well-loved MAHINDA JERONIMUS last afternoon (12th Feb, approx. 3.00pm) in Melbourne. He was 73.

Although Mahinda spent most of his school years at St Benedict’s College Kotahena, his couple of years at St Anthony’s College between 1965 and 1966 made him one of our own. Along with his wife Dayani, Mahinda rarely missed our Annual Dinner Dances and he was also a regular at other Antonian events in Melbourne. Mahinda represented SACK in under-16 cricket as a fast bowler, playing alongside his good friend Meri Guneratne.

Being educated at two of the four Saints schools, Mahinda showed immense passion in the annual Saints Quadrangular Cricket event in Melbourne, serving as the President of the organising committee until recently. He was instrumental in resurrecting this tournament in 2016 after a hiatus of over 15 years. It was only fitting that his beloved Bens won the tournament this year, which eventuated as a memorable farewell to Mahinda.

Funeral arrangements are to be notified in due course.

Our prayers and thoughts are with Dayani, his two daughters, grandchildren and the rest of the family.

RIP Mahinda
