THREE RECORDS OF JUNIOR ATHLETES AT TRINITY COLLEGE KANDY UNBROKEN FOR 46-44 YEARS – by Sunil Thenabadu

Trinity College junior school publications to date reveal the existence of three athletic records established at junior athletic meets in years 1977- 1979. Three splendid performances made by three under eleven athletes remain still unbroken, which have been uninterruptedly reported in annual sports meet souvenirs.

However, it is disheartening to know that these remarkable accomplished feats have not been brought to light for so many years.

The records thus established are:

100 m -by J Devadasan in 14.04 secs

200 m – by N.L.K Ratnayake in 30.00 secs

Long Jump -C De Silva 04.04 meters

The above records are the longest standing unbroken athletics records at any level  in Sri Lanka and hence needs to be reminisced and highlighted for the knowledge of all sports loving personnel especially among the present generation.

As the reporter of this article I am personally very happy to have succeeded  in obtaining photographs of the athletes after much effort who are now in their mid- fifties.

I am sure all old Trinitians domiciled in Sri Lanka and all  over the world will be elated and proud to hear of these fantastic performances of the above trio of their school.
