World Food Day – Nourishing the Future-by Kalani-eLanka

World Food Day is celebrated every year on October 16th to honor the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. This special day reminds us of the importance of ensuring that everyone has access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food.

The theme for World Food Day 2025 focuses on “Healthy Food for a Healthy Planet.” It highlights how our food choices affect not only our health but also the environment and the world’s natural resources.

Around the world, millions of people still suffer from hunger and malnutrition, while tons of food are wasted daily. This day calls for unity and action — to reduce food waste, support local farmers, and promote sustainable agriculture.

Each of us can make a difference by eating mindfully, avoiding food waste, and supporting efforts to fight hunger. Together, we can build a world where no one goes to bed hungry and where every meal contributes to a healthier planet.

Let’s celebrate World Food Day by valuing food, sharing with others, and caring for our planet — because food is life, and life depends on how we nurture it.
