1000 Plus Hatton Estate Employees Screened for Breast and Oral Cancers-By Nisal Rukshan
A mega health screening drive with special focus on breast cancers, oral cancers, and women’s well-being was conducted for 1,000-plus associates of Hatton Plantations PLC last Saturday (25) at DKW Cultural Hall in Hatton.
The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Cancer Society, Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) – Nuwara Eliya, Ambagamuwa Medical Officer of Health (MOH), and the Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka (PFA).
The Sri Lanka Cancer Society conducted breast cancer and oral cancer screening sessions, and the Ambagamuwa MOH office officials conducted a well-woman (suwanari) programme at the venue together with the Sri Lanka Family Planning Association.
The Hatton Plantations PLC carried out all coordination, administration, and arrangements for resource personnel and attendees with the guidance of Mr Menaka Athukorala, CEO & MD of the organization, by respecting the core values of sustainable agriculture.
During the programme, the suspected associates, after screening for breast cancer and oral cancers, were referred to respective hospitals for immediate further investigations and treatments.
Ms Sureka Gardiner, philanthropist and board member of Sri Lanka Cancer Society; Ms Anoja Karunarathna, President, Sri Lanka Cancer Society; Chairman, Hatton Urban Council, Mr A Siva; Assistant Director of PFA, Dr Thilini Jayalath AMOH – Ambagamuwa, together with health care professionals, Officials of Hatton Plantations PLC, including Deputy General Manager Mr Tharaka Athukorala, Mr Dilan Padmasisiri, Manager HR, attended the venue.
