Dozens of children graced the stage ofTumbalongPark to show off their culture in song and dance to demonstrate the power of multiculturalism in creating a stable and successful society. The high point was the choir of childrenin traditional costumes singing the Australian national anthem in unison.

Opening the Festival, the Minister for Multiculturalism, Mark Coure, guaranteed it would be supported by Governmentto a value of 100 thousand dollarsover the next four years,if the Coalition is re-elected.

“We are committed to helping our state’s diverse communities celebrate their culture and share it with everyone,” Mr Coure said.

“That is why in our next term of government, we will invest $25,000 a year for four years to ensure the Children’s Festival can continue to do just that. “The Children’s Festival is a true reflection of our state’s multicultural society.

“We set an example to the rest of the world in how diverse communities can live together in harmony.  More than anything, this is because we all value the hope and opportunity our country has to offer”, he said.

The founding President of the Childrens Festival Organisation, Mr Thuat Nguyen AM, told the crowd in Tumbalong Park: “Our experience of The Children’s Festival has shown us that this event is contributing to a more cohesive society and is promoting peace in our community.

“The participation of a good number of schools and youth groups from various cultural backgrounds following the worst of the pandemic and the continuing enthusiastic participation of multiple groups, despite the current complicated world situation, clearly demonstrates the Children’s Festival’s success in building community harmony, in line with its motto: Playing together and Living in Harmony.

Today, we are delighted to hold our 38thChildren’s Festival in this beautiful Tumbalong Park in the City of Sydney,” Mr Nguyen said.
