Remembering Sari De Sylva The All Ceylon Rugby Legend & CR & FC Player from my youthful days since 1964.
Sari guided his players on and off the field and was a mentor, leader and inspiration to many of the games followers.
A model player, ambassador and captain, Sari was the heart and soul of the Longdon Place Rugby Football Club and any CR&FC supporters will bear testimony to this.
Sari’s loyalty and dedication to the CR&FC and his players made him a successful captain.
A Banker by profession I got to know Sari vey closely in the early Eighties when he was posted to Oman to work for the British Bank of the Middle East in the Company of his Team Raja Sahabandu a Colleague of mine @ Qurum Contractors a Leading Omani Construction Company.
He was always lovable and enriching company with an unparalleled sense of humour. Sari was truly the cornerstone of the social group, he was a tremendous personality and a perfect example of what a role model should be. He was a brilliant sportsman and a gentle human being.
