Lyceum International School, Nugegoda Senior Choir Enthrals Audience with Inaugural Carol Service at St. Paul’s Church

Lyceum International School (1)

In a harmonious celebration of the festive season, the Lyceum International School, Nugegoda Senior Choir marked a significant milestone with its inaugural Carol service at St. Paul’s Church, Kynsey Road, Colombo 10 recently. The event unfolded under the blessings of Vicar General Revd. Adrian Aaron, graced by the presence of Rev. Brother Neivl Jayasekara, Dr. Mohan Lal Grero, founder of Lyceum International Schools, Dr. (Mrs.) Kumari Grero, Coordinating Principal,  Mr. Rajiv Ekanayake, Principal,  the school’s Management staff, and parents.

The event, marked by divine blessings and festive spirit, featured stellar performances by the Intermediate Choirs – Seraphim and Cherubim, in addition to the Staff Choir. The meticulously crafted programme opened with the hauntingly beautiful “Once in Royal David’s City” and gracefully progressed through a chronological portrayal of the Nativity of Jesus Christ.

The musical journey was enriched by compositions and arrangements from acclaimed artists such as David Wilcocks, Vivaldi, John Rutter, Paul Carey, and others. The grand finale, “Noel,” arranged by the choir master Mr. Ian Francis Ranasinghe, was a masterful fusion of rhythms from both the Middle East and Sri Lanka, brought to life by a unique track crafted by Mr. Clifford Fernando.

Accompanied by Avishka Wikramanayake on the Pianoforte and Clifford Fernando on the Organ, the Senior Choir’s performance was nothing short of captivating. Under the direction of Mr. Ian Francis Ranasinghe assisted by Ms. Nadine Ollegasegram, the choir left a lasting impression on the audience, showcasing the talent and dedication that went into their preparation.

Simultaneously, the Intermediate Choirs, Seraphim and Cherubim, were skillfully directed by the head of the department Ms. Shyami Ratnam, along with Ms. Drucille Gomes and Mr. Ian Francis Ranasinghe.
