Tamworth-Born GRO Rural Celebrates Successful National Launch
Tamworth’s own GRO Rural has made a strong entrance onto the national stage, officially launching its innovative platform on Monday, 19 August, at Ostani in Barton, ACT. The launch event brought together influential figures from across Australia’s agricultural sector, sparking insightful discussions and fostering valuable networking opportunities.
Founded by Tamworth businesswoman Dimity Smith, GRO Rural emerged from a clear gap identified by the team at GRO Events Group. “We experienced the challenge firsthand of finding rural professionals and contractors who genuinely understood and connected with the unique needs of rural and agricultural Australia,” Dimity shared. The digital platform was developed to bridge that gap, aiming to bolster economic growth in rural communities by connecting skilled professionals with businesses across the country. Designed to address the
challenges of sourcing specialised talent for remote and contract roles, GRO Rural is particularly focused on supporting the agriculture industry.
The launch event was hosted by Andrew Whitelaw and Matt Dalgleish of Episode3, also known for their globally recognised AgWatchers Podcast, adding a dynamic and engaging element to the evening.
During the launch, Andrew Whitelaw took the stage to share his appreciation for the significance of community in rural and regional Australia. He emphasised how rural communities are the backbone of the nation, and that fostering strong, interconnected networks is essential for their resilience and growth. “This is why I honour and appreciate the community that Dimity is creating with GRO Rural,” Andrew said.
Looking ahead, GRO Rural is already expanding its services into additional sectors, including cotton, agronomy, and livestock management. The team is actively inviting rural and agriculture-related organisations to get involved—whether as foundation sponsors or subscribers—as the platform continues to grow.
GRO Rural’s early success is further highlighted by its nomination as a finalist in the Outstanding New Business category for the Tamworth 2024 Quality Business Awards. This recognition underscores not only the platform’s impact but also Tamworth’s capacity to foster innovative businesses that support the growth and sustainability of rural and agricultural communities across Australia.
