Sri Lankan national swimmer Akalanka Peiris delivered a stellar performance over the weekend, securing the Victorian State Championship title in the Men’s 50m Backstroke. Competing in Australia, Peiris touched the wall in 24.63 seconds, missing his own Sri Lankan national record by a razor thin margin of just 0.11 seconds.
This remarkable victory marks his third consecutive year winning the Victorian State Champion title, confirming his position among the top backstroke specialists on the Australian circuit. Peiris has maintained exceptional momentum while residing and training down under, consistently setting new standards for Sri Lankan aquatics on international waters.
