ANDUREN ELIYATA – DARKNESS TO LIGHT INC.

ANDUREN ELIYATA Solar Powered Light Donation Program entered the 10^th Year on 12^th May 2023.  It is your generous donation which keeps us afloat.  We have donated over 5000 units to under-privileged children of rural Sri Lanka, irrespective of race, religion they belong to.

Over the years, our main fundraising event in Sydney had been the sale of Rice Parcels.  Unfortunately, due to COVID 19, we have not been able to sell rice parcels to raise funds in the last three years.

This year, Mr Kusumsiri & Ms Yasodhara Sarathchandra are staging the highly acclaimed drama “Sathgunawath Horu” on 27^th August 2023, at Casula Powerhouse to raise funds for our Solar Light Donation Program.  Sathgunawath Horu had a very successful run in Melbourne and Adelaide, raised funds, and now they are coming to Sydney.

Being a service to a particular country we have a limited resource for funding.  Hence we seek your help in the sale of tickets to your membership, who may like to help/donate and may have undergone difficulties during their student days due to non-availability of electricity.  The undersigned got electricity only when he was 19 years.

This month 510 units arrived in Colombo and another 510 units have been ordered and being shipped this week. We donate 50Watt Solar Powered Lighting Unit to a family.  (We invite you to visit www.andureneliyata.com.au  for further details)

We do not have overheads viz no employees, no travelling expenses in Australia, no rent, no electricity.  All helpers are volunteers who spend their own money to help Anduren Eliyata. It is your generous support which kept us afloat for the last nine years. Now the demand for lights is increasing due to various economic factors.  It is the time to pay back to our brothers and sisters who are undergoing difficulties, and help them to achieve good results.

Amongst the areas where Solar Powered Lighting units have been distributed are, Dambana (Uruwarige Vanniyala Eththo), Vauniya, Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalayam, Anamaduwa, Seruwila, Amparai, Mahiyangana, Thambuttegama, Puttalam, Dehiowita, Aranayaka, Maha Oya Area, Galgamuwagama, Alawala, Galgamuwa, Kalpitiya, Bakmetiyawewa.

I want to reiterate that there is no paid employee in our Charity, nor anyone receiving allowances: which help us to do more with little money we receive as donations.

A ticket for Sathgunawath Horu is available at $50 per person.
