DESMOND KELLY

“THE REAL ROCKET MAN” – By Des Kelly   There have been a few of them recently, most of them fakes, but finally, here is the guy who WILL succeed, simply because he doesn’t know the meaning of the word failure. “THE DOLPHIN’S MATE” – By Des Kelly   One of the most touching videos I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. It just goes to show that there ARE people around like the dolphin’s mate, obviously an animal lover who noticed this beautiful creature, and being a diver himself, knew that his mate wasn’t swimming in the normal manner. Dolphins are known to be very intelligent, the reason perhaps, was why he got quite close to the diver,  wordlessly asking for help.To all my readers of eLanka, please have that box of tissues handy as you watch this superb video.      Desmond Kelly.  (Editor-in-Chief)– eLanka.         ...

“AUSTRALIA PERSONIFIED” – By Des Kelly    As a Sri Lankan (Ceylon) migrant to Melbourne, Australia, of nearly 60 years, I cannot help but remember the many times when friends told me quite emphatically that I had made a big mistake coming here. I should have gone to America, they told me. My musical career, my songwriting capabilities, my showbiz life in general, would have been much better in America, had I chosen to go there. I sometimes wondered if they were right. Now, along comes this American, giving us his candid opinion on Australia Personified.            I found this very interesting indeed and decided to share it with all my eLanka readers, everywhere. To make a long story short, I am very pleased that I stuck to my initial decision of coming to Australia. See what you think.   Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief)-eLanka.     David Mason is ...

“MUSIC THEREIN” – By Des Kelly       Another “first” for my eLanka readers, who are already aware of the fact that, if it has anything to do with good music, I would like to share it with them.  Just add the capital M to my title and therein lies this very good news. I have to admit that I have never heard of this strange, but beautiful-sounding instrument. “THEREMIN” was kindly sent out to me, by my good friend Charles Schokman, together with the interesting little story sbout this instrument, fretless, stringless, looking rather boring perhaps, until you hear this lady actually play it. ...

“LOST FOR WORDS” – By Des Kelly   Explains why English is such a strange but fascinating language. Certain Phrases, Prose, Quotes, and sometimes, even Words that are “coined” by Wordsmiths such as some Authors are prone to do at times, appear at random during our lives, only to disappear, as time goes by.            Once again, while the actual author of this “piece” is unknown, eLanka thanks both Keith Bennett & Maxwell Gerlach for sending this article in. I am sure that our readers will remember some of these nostalgic writings, because if they do not, I shall be lost for words. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) eLanka.  ...
