Sara is known to many by different names since her schooldays like Sarani,Hansi,Sara etc.She had been brought up by her father,brother and sister after her mother had expired when she was only three years old.She commends her mother’s sister (Punchi) who had been like a friend with whom she could discuss anything. However, she affirms that she had missed her mother when young.
Saara had studied at Dharmasena Attygalle Vidyalaya in Piliyandala up to grade V. After she passed the Grade V scholarship examination had applied to Girl’s High School, Buddhist Girls, Princess of Wales schools. But she had been offered a position at the Piliyandala Madhya Maha Vidyalaya.In school Saara had been very popular not for academic studies but excelled in sports and extra-curricular activities and in schools media unit.Saara had played Netball, Volleyball and excelled in cadeting which had just begun in girl schools. Saara recollects how she dominated in the media unit.She had confessed that the girls in the media unit used to collect news from various newspapers edit them and then narrate to the students. Saara had rather reluctantly confessed that she used to mention her name “Saara” as the editor of the news program. As added earlier Saara had confessed that it was always interested in only extra-curricular activities. She had also been an important member of the schools debating team.She had initially brought laurels to her school becoming the best cadet platoon in all island girl schools, in an event held in year 2008 at the Air Force base in Rantabe..Initially she had affirmed that her school had come among the all island best six schools. Perhaps this victory owes to Saara’s dominance and enthusiasm in this task of encouraging and leading the cadets as a cohesive unit.. Saara for her dominance in extra –curricular activities had won a scholarship to Japan along with another girl and two boys from her school.
She had confessed that many teachers knowing well she had no mother had endeavoured to fill the void by lending a helping hand at numerous instances. She recalls a teacher Ramani coincidently her mother was also Ramani, who also had two sweet daughters had rendered a helping hand on many occasions.Saara recalls how teacher Ramani took her in her car to her place when her birth certificate was required to be produced for that Japan tour. Saara humbly recollects that they were like Angels ( Deva Duutha) rescuing her on countless occasions. Saara recollects that some teachers even call her on “Mother’s Day”, which shows the affection the teachers had towards her.These incidents made her to be consoled in the absence of her mother though the void could never be filled.
No one is Saara’s family has been in the media having no hereditary affiliations. All what she had achieved were though her innate talents.How Saara got the opportunity to be an announce at the SLRC was when she had gone with Danika Colombage for a voice rehearsal. But by sheer quirk passing a another unit a girl who was been interviewed and tested had not performed well at all, when she was tested instead she performed admirably to precision to be selected for the program “KVT Hansi”.However Saara recollects that she had sung chorus for many singers participating in “savanesrasa” etc previously also having participated in Sirasa TV and Sri FM radio.

Saara also known as DJ Saara is a very sensitive individual always ever willing to help and advise the novices had added that tears come to her eyes when she observes young talent performing so well.She cannot recollect a single instance having hurt anyone’s feelings though there are several jealous colleagues in this field which says she admires at least one good quality in them never retaliates as those individuals would be treated appropriately by “Ditta Damma Karma” principle by which retribution comes. The writer had followed Sara’s “Aluth Udesanak” for three hours from 7 am at the Lakhanda ITN with co-host Narada Bakmeewewa a matured radio presenter a few years back. Saara had commented that she had learnt a lot from the senior presenter Narada during the tenure, which a co-host would not simply comment. Saara possesses unique qualities, possessing a very kind-hearted attitude. She loves to read and gather knowledge which she already possesses in abundance. She had affirmed that these qualities she may have inherited from her mother about whom she is hearing from those who had known her.
Saara is married to Hiran Chandrasena a prominent personality in the media arena,who owns the very popular music channel ‘MUSIC.LK” .Saara had been requested to work in his music channel where she had learnt “live streaming” an area she had not been acquainted. The duo had been good friends for some time before tying the nuptial knot. The duo lives with Hiran’s parents in their house in Piliyandala.

Saara is a multifaceted artiste having navigated successfully over them with ease. To add to what she had already achieved Saara has successfully undergone courses in Psychology and Counselling at the department of Pali & Buddhist studies at the University of Kelaniya.Also obtained a diploma in International Relations at the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies.Also successfully completed a Diploma course in digital marketing t the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM).Saara also had followed a certificate course in International Relations at the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies.
Hansi Saara with knowledge gained from the above study and diploma courses in addition for her present television ,radio hosting ,dubbing performing as a voice actress for commercials etc she intends seriously to perform counselling which is an area where she could assist those in distress and in anguish in resolving family issues and for attitudes of children which are rampant in society.In this scenario Saara is always busy diverting from her usual hosting endeavours in her new ventures which she has aptly selected.All her well wishes and fans would no doubt wish her to navigate easily over them wishing her a resounding success for her future.
