Inside the Sri Dalada Maligawa 1987-By L.B.Senaratne

Inside the Sri Dalada MaligaWA 987-eLanka

In the ” Global Peace Walk ”  in  Sri lanka the most significant and life time achievement was to pray within the Inner Shrine Room of the Sri Dalada Maligawa.with the permission of the Nayake Thera of the Inner Shrine Venerable Tibbotuwawe Medankara Thera ( a pupil of the Mahanayake of Malwatta ).

Normally, no one is allowed to stay more than a few minutues in this Hallowed area, but the Nayake Thera allowed this unique position to Venerable Pannakara Thera and a few of his followers to enter and pray in front of the Golden Karanduwa ( casket ) which holds the Sacred Tooth Relic.

Hiherto this has not been done over the years, but as a gesure for World Peae the Nayake Thera Venerable Medankara invited the Global Peace walkers ( a few of them ) to pray within this resticted area.

Others who was in the Global walk prayed from the lower Drummers Hall of the Sri Dalada Malgiawa.

The Diyawadana Nilame ( Custodian ) Pradeep Nilanga Dela agreed to allow this World gesture, which is not normal and not allowed to others.

Even the photoraphs are normally  not allowed in this area.  Veneerable Medankara Thera can be seen at the entrance and Venerable Pannakara Thera can be seen praying with a small group as the area is very limited.
