Pearl Life Care Incorporated –
Together Creating Our Own –
A Vision for the Future of Sri Lankan-Australian Seniors

Board Chair Ms. Nalika Padmasena OAM speaking to the Pearl Life Care Board at SCC, 3 July 2026.
Topic: Retirement Village vs Aged Care facility — key differences explained to guide our work ahead.

As Australia’s Sri Lankan community continues to grow and mature, a new initiative is taking shape with the aim of addressing one of the most important needs of future generations — culturally connected retirement living.

Pearl Life Care Incorporated, has been established with a clear vision: to create a purpose-built retirement community where Sri Lankan-Australian seniors can age with dignity, comfort, security, and a strong sense of belonging.

Currently in its planning phase, the organisation is working towards acquiring suitable land within the next five years to develop a retirement village specifically designed to meet the social, cultural, and wellbeing needs of older members of the Sri Lankan community.

At the heart of the project is a simple but powerful aspiration:

“Together creating our own.”

Why Pearl Life Care?

For many seniors, retirement is about more than housing. It is about remaining connected to familiar traditions, language, culture, faith, and community.

Pearl Life Care seeks to provide a retirement environment where residents can continue to enjoy these important aspects of life while benefiting from modern facilities, health support services, and an active social lifestyle.

The proposed retirement village will offer:

  • Comfortable 1, 2, and 3-bedroom living options
  • Community and recreation facilities
  • Gardens and walking trails
  • Swimming pools and wellness programs
  • Cultural and spiritual spaces
  • Community events and social gatherings
  • Nursing and allied health services
  • Opportunities for volunteering and community engagement

The vision is to create not just a place to live, but a place to belong.

Leadership Guided by Experience

Pearl Life Care Incorporated is governed by an experienced Board and supported by respected Trustees who bring expertise across healthcare, law, finance, engineering, governance, technology, and community development.

  • Rohith Niranjan De Alwis, JP – Board Member

  • Anton Fernando – Trustee
  • Dr. Ruwan Walpola GP – Trustee
  • Palitha Wijesena – Trustee

Together, this leadership team brings decades of experience in governance, healthcare, engineering, finance, technology, and community service, providing a strong foundation for the organisation’s future.

Building a Legacy for Future Generations

Pearl Life Care Incorporated represents more than a retirement village project.

It is a community-led initiative that seeks to create a lasting legacy for future generations of Sri Lankan-Australians.

As planning progresses, the organisation is inviting community members, supporters, donors, and future residents to become part of the journey.

Whether through registering interest, volunteering expertise, supporting fundraising efforts, or simply helping spread awareness, every contribution brings the vision closer to reality.

Join the Journey

Pearl Life Care Incorporated believes that the future of retirement living for the Sri Lankan community should be shaped by the community itself.

Together creating our own.
