Royal College Queensland 2025 – From Royal Thomian Glory to School Cricket Champions

The year 2025 could not have started better for Royal College Queensland cricket. In March, the Royal team stunned the
community by dismissing S. Thomas’ College for just 43 runs in the all-important Royal Thomian encounter – claiming all
ten wickets in a display of sheer dominance. That emphatic win set the tone for the months ahead. The players carried
that same confidence and fighting spirit straight into the Cricket Carnival 2025 –
organised by the Sri Lanka Sports Association of Queensland.

A Marathon Effort – 8 Games in 2 Days – In the league stage, Royal brushed aside some of the strongest school teams from Sri Lanka: S. Thomas’ College, St. Sebastian’s College, Prince of Wales College, Maris Stella College, Gampaha Bandaranayake College, Defending champions Sri Sumangala College

The Knockout Stage – Finishing Strong – Momentum carried through to the knockouts. In the semi-final, Royal once again beat St. Sebastian’s convincingly. The final brought a rematch with Sri Sumangala – last year’s champions. With composure and determination, Royal sealed the win to lift the coveted trophy. Individual brilliance added to the collective achievement: Lahiru was the Best Bowler of the Tournament and Dinira was named Man of the
Match in the Final.

A Team Built on History and Spirit – Royal cricket in Queensland is no stranger to success. Over the years, this team has built a proud tradition – especially with multiple wins in the RoyTho encounters that bring together Royalists and Thomians in Australia. Each year, these matches remind the community of the deep-rooted rivalry and the enduring Royal spirit.

This Carnival win adds another golden chapter in Royal cricket in Queensland. The Royal squad – Sameera (C), Lahiru (VC), Sanka, Sudheera, Sachith, Dinura, Gihan, Sharujan, Nalaka, Hansaka, Manura, and Pamod – showcased
not only their cricketing ability but also their unity.

Grit Until the Last Ball – What stood out most was the team’s refusal to give up. Sometimes against all odds and with very little crowd support – the Royal players dug deep and fought on. Matches were turned around with grit,
teamwork, and belief. This was a side that simply would not stop fighting until the very last ball was bowled.

A Milestone for Royal in QLD – The unbeaten triumph at Cricket Carnival 2025 – coming so soon after the Royal Thomian heroics – makes this year one of the most memorable in Royal cricket history in Queensland. It is a proud reminder that the Royal spirit – discipline, courage, and determination – travels far beyond Reid Avenue. “This win is for every Royalist in Queensland – a victory that shows our spirit will never fade.”

The Cricket Committee, QORA
