Young Rozeth Dias a Badminton Champion in the making – By Sunil Thenabadu
Fourteen year old Rozeth Dias a student at Our Lady Of Victories convent in Moratuwa had commenced playing Badminton at her tender age of seven years. The school sports coaches had identified her innate talent when she had begun playing the game seriously when she had triumphed in many school tournaments . Rozeth had persisted her passion as a Badminton player winning in some tournaments she participated in organized by the Sri Lanka Badminton Association too. In these tournaments Rozeth had been awarded constantly many certificates ,medals and trophies.
It was recently that Rozeth participated in the 72nd National Badminton Championships organized by the Badminton body ,Sri Lanka Badminton Association where she received a ranking too in the under 15 category. Rozeth participated also recently in the Eastern Province Badminton Championships where she reached the semi finals improving her ranking too also Rozeth with her partner was adjudged as the second runner up in the girl’s Under 15 doubles category. Her parents Ravi and Shashi Dias devote much of their valued time though been busy in their respective professions as a staff officer at HNB and a senior executive at SENOK,leaders in the importation and distribution of heavy vehicles and equipment.
We as followers of Rozeth’s badminton wish her in all future competitions while not neglecting her studies where she is a studious student too.
