Sri Lanka’s tourism sector continues to shine brightly, showing its strength and positive momentum. In the first 26 days of July, over

1.3 million visitors have arrived—an exciting milestone that reflects growing confidence in the island’s charm, even amidst ongoing global challenges. While international markets face rising oil prices—now around $100 per barrel amid tensions in the Strait of Hormuz—Sri Lanka has managed to not only stay strong but also to flourish.

This achievement truly shows the dedication of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA). Their thoughtful promotional campaigns, smart market diversification, and efforts to enhance visitors’ experience are really making a positive difference and clearly paying off.

A Month of Momentum: July Arrivals at a Glance

Provisional SLTDA data shows that during the first 26 days of July, a total of 167,401 tourists arrived, which is a slight 0.11% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

India continues to be the leading source market with 38,785 visitors, accounting for 23%. Following closely is the UK with 18,419 visitors (11%), while the Netherlands contributes 10,540 (6%), and

China adds 10,238 (6%).

Australia also makes it into the top five with 8,024 visitors (5%). These figures are more than just numbers; they reflect Sri Lanka’s growing reputation as a safe, affordable, and culturally rich destination in South Asia, welcoming travellers from around the world.

Despite challenges like rising fuel costs impacting long-distance travel and regional tensions causing some uncertainty, Sri Lanka continues to shine by highlighting what makes it special:
