Tavi De Silva Crowned 2026 IFBB Australian National Champion – Sri Lankan-born athlete earns coveted Pro Card in outstanding Men’s Physique victory
Sri Lankan-born Tavi De Silva has achieved a remarkable milestone in Australian bodybuilding, being crowned the 2026 International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation (IFBB) Australian National Champion in the Men’s Physique category at the recently held national competition in Melbourne.
The 29-year-old Sydney-based athlete overcame a highly competitive field of more than 25 competitors from across Australia to claim the national title and, with it, the much sought-after Pro Card status.
For Tavi, the victory represents the culmination of more than eight years of dedicated training, discipline and determination — and follows an extraordinary run of success at state level.
From NSW Champion to Australian National Champion
Before taking the national crown, Tavi had already established an impressive competitive record, winning the New South Wales State Championship for four consecutive years.
Stepping onto the national stage in Melbourne therefore represented the next major challenge in his bodybuilding journey. Against some of the country’s leading Men’s Physique competitors, Tavi delivered the performance that secured the Australian championship.
His coaching team attributes the achievement to qualities that have become hallmarks of Tavi’s approach to the sport: commitment, discipline, competitive spirit, mental toughness and an unwavering ability to remain focused on his goals.

Having migrated to Australia at just 11 years of age, Tavi developed a passion for bodybuilding during his teenage years. What began as a personal interest gradually developed into a serious pursuit, eventually taking him through state-level competition and now to the pinnacle of Australian national competition.
His achievement is particularly noteworthy in a sport in which relatively few athletes of Sri Lankan heritage have reached this level of competition.
For young Sri Lankan athletes in Australia, Tavi’s journey is also a powerful example of what can be achieved through long-term commitment, perseverance and belief in one’s goals.
Turning His Passion into a Profession
Tavi’s involvement in health and fitness extends well beyond his own competitive bodybuilding career.
Today, he owns two franchise operations of Elite nutritional supplements, while also sharing his experience and knowledge with others seeking to improve their fitness, nutrition and physique.
Through his brand @tds_physique, Tavi provides both online and face-to-face nutritional guidance, as well as coaching in Men’s Physique training.
His experience as a competitive athlete allows him to bring first-hand knowledge to those he coaches, while his own journey has encouraged many adults to consider bodybuilding and physique training — whether competitively or as part of a healthier lifestyle.
The Beginning of an Exciting New Chapter
Earning Pro Card status marks an exciting new stage in Tavi De Silva’s bodybuilding journey. From arriving in Australia as an 11-year-old, discovering bodybuilding as a teenager, dedicating more than eight years to his training, becoming a four-time NSW champion and now being crowned an Australian National Champion, his progression has been exceptional.
