THE VIBE MUSIC GROUP TO PERFORM IN MELBOURNE – By Sunil Thenabadu
The Band members were university students who had formed the band during the covid-19 era. In Sri Lanka from time to time changes do happen in music groups. In the recent past the music group ‘Vibe Group” steered by ‘blind’ Milinda Pradeep initially was known from Hiru Star competition when he was placed among the top ten, had become popular also via ‘Tik Tok’ The new Sinhala song “Mata Bandinna Beha’ has gone viral in social media.All songs are sung by all as it is predominantly a voice band.Milinda Pradeep the leader who is blind is a competent table exponent, in addition had been in the top ten in ‘Hiru Star’ .
All six members of the ‘Vibe Music’ group have emerged from a popular reality competition having learnt music.. From a long time had been thinking of forming a music group. The members all are of the view to perform and sing differently not following any other music group to be observed as unique. The group have made a lot of ‘cover songs’, one of Samitha Mudunkotuwa’s , ‘Amuthuma Premayak’ song scripted by Dilan Gamage became viral in ‘Tik Tok’. The song of Jagath Wickremasinghe titled “Oba Ma Hamuwe Nam’ cover song too became viral on Tik Tok..
‘Vibe Music’ group do not attempt to emulate anyone .The song ‘Mata Badinna Behe’ had became very popular.There have been times when their weaknesses were pointed out which they remedy. They receive assistance and support from senior artistes. They make sure to make different songs in many genres. The “Vibe Music’ band only performs predominantly in indoors only. The group consists of the leader Malinda Pradeep who is totally blind from birth , Thimira Pramilanka,Dhammika Krishnadasa,Ayesh Pieris, Sameera Arangala and Dulshan Maduranga while Gimhana Gamage is the music composer The main significance of the group is that all could sing as well could play many musical instruments well.,The six in the group had been together for a long time. Currently we are invited to concerts in Sri Lanka while a number of invitations have been received for overseas concerts in Australia, England,USA ,Europe ,Italy etc. The concerts in Melbourne Australia is fixed for end of August with all arrangements confirmed organized by Aus Lanka
The first song was titled “Me Palu Yame” became an instantly popular via the social media platforms. Thereafter ‘Hendewaka’,’Mama Messek’,’Mata Bandinna Behe’, ‘Eka Kudayaka’ and ‘Palaweni Premaya”.All became instantly popular heard by millions. The group focus to provide listeners with soothing lyrics and music to calm them The many cover songs made have been accepted and listened with interest by millions of viewers. .
