VIDUSHA RAJAGURU

Visharada Vidusha Nethranjali Rajaguru is a twenty one year old second year student in the university of visual and performing arts , a native of Matale for schooling convenience is residing in Maharagama area, since  year 2011  came to factual fame in the year 2023 after she emerged as a close runner up in the most popular gruelling reality singing competition Derana Dream Star season 11 at which she received incessant escalating booms from the knowledgeable panel of adjudicators. Vidusha possess a Visharada degree in music has studied music further is now a “Sangeeth Praveen’.She is contemplating on going to India for her “Sangeeth Nipun” Honourable music degree.

Vidusha’s family had moved from Matale to Maharagama for higher studies of Vidusha and elder sisters Ayesha and Umesha.Vidusha had studied in the English Medium from the sixth standard at Mahinda Rajapaksa Vidyalaya then had had entered to Sangamitta Balika Vidyalaya where she had completed ordinary level then had studied in English Medium at Vishaka Vidyalaya Colombo 4 from where she had triumphed in the Advanced Level to enter the university of visual and performing arts. It is learnt from her young days from the  Montessori class while residing in Matale had studied in English medium, hence she is very fluent in the English Vernacular in both written and spoken English as well as in her mother tongue.

Vidusha with her innate talent had won many awards in school and in all Island school competitions for her singing . She is talented in many other fields like in Chess where she had been a champion in School and won also at in all island tournaments. Also had attended to ‘Yoga’ classes hoping to study courses in defence like ‘Angampora’ and Kung Fu’ a kind of marshal arts and is also a good swimmer , which she believes could come in useful to her .She has been invited to portray a role in a short Tele Film after producers had discovered her talent in music videos. In this context Vidusha could be termed a ‘Jack of All Trades’ who is termed as someone who can perform many jobs or activities.  Often spoken as part of a longer phrase, “jack of all trades, master of none”, when said by itself, “jack all trades” is used in a very affirmative way, praising a person who can do many different things, jobs, or functions. When the “master of none” is added, the meaning shifts to imply that a person knows how to do many things but doesn’t necessarily do them better than anyone else.

Despite Vidusha’s ability to sing both  low and high notes and able to sing in all genres preferring the rock’ style. Vidusha’s  live performances were consistently praised by the five adjudicators as in other reality contests the winners are determined on the number of SMS’s polled. Anjalee Herath who was the winner was employed at SL Air Force  ,while Vidusha was only a first year student at the visual and performing university then. All five judges in their comments had parroted after her song “Walakulak Wee’,a rock type duet song of Indra Chapa and Kasun Kalhara, that Vidusha had already won , it was also the opinion of so many vocalists who were present that she was the most skilful. Her mother Damayanthi Rajaguru had been a tower of strength for her journey. As she looked very weird when the winner was declared, obviously as she expected Vidusha to triumph

Vidusha is the youngest of the three daughters. The eldest sister is Umesha visiting lecturer in universities having a Masters degree. The second daughter Ayesha too educated imitating Umesha. Mother Damayanthi had been a teacher while Father had served as an Army officer after been wounded in the ‘Wadamarachchi’ battle after which determined to remain in the battlefield  had been a computer expert having been jointly instrumental in drawing the ‘war map’ initially nearly three decades ago After ending the prolonged ethnic war he had retired had lived for five years before bidding adieu, when Vidusha was only  fifteen years old

 

Vidusha is born with innate musical talent had won many singing competitions at school and at all island competitions which had facilitated her to win the Derana Little Star crown when she was five years old. In year 2017 she had won a Sarasaviya award for her song “Lassanai Wanantherai’ in the film ‘Ali Kathawa’ of Professor Sunil Ariyaratna which was a huge boost to her musical journey .  

Immediately after her triumph Vidusha had recorded many music videos which are in her ‘you tube’ channel already watched by millions. The most popular video  is titled  ‘Sambudu Ruwa’  having had over two million viewers. Some of the other videos are “Enna Siyathuna’,”Ran Tharu Dahasak”,”Lahiru Res”, “Ran Tharu Dahasak:;.”Pudadena  Me Mal”.,”Nuba ma Herada”, “Ohuge Ruwa’ “Malsara Hee Sara”,”Hada Wedana”, “Lahiru res”, “ Divaman Thawsithawaka’ , “ Lahiru Res” lately two songs were recorded for last Christmas v.i.z., “Enna Sihathune Samaye Panividaya’, “Jesu Samidan Udesa’.For most songs the music compositions were by Anuradha Abeyasinghe,the music in the song ‘Hada Wedana’ was by Tyronne Muddumage.The song “Mal Sara Hee Sara” was a duet with a former Dream Star Sumeera Sumanga.Most lyrics  were penned by Nilmini Wahendrasinghe The lyrics of the latest video song “ “Divaman Thawsithawak” was by Ven Attidiye Pugngnathane Thero residing in USA.There are many more that have been watched by many.

It should be mentioned that Vidusha is a staunch Buddhist who observes ‘SIL’ on Poya days is very humble ,down to earth All followers and ardent fans would wish Vidusha for her incredible voyage which during an year or so  after her triumph has reached to unprecedented tall altitudes.
