Weekend in Dambulla at Liyya Water Villas Resort – By Harold Gunatillake

My wife and I booked this hotel a few weeks ago and visited last weekend. We started from Kandy at about 11 am, and it took us two hours through Matale to reach Dambulla without rush and a comfortable slow drive.

This resort was about 2 km before Dambulla Cave Temple., where had to turn left near a small boutique. There was a large display board at the turn-off.

It was just 5 minute’s drive from this point to the resort. We parked our car in front of the main office building.

The manager promptly arrived and greeted us, and two boys carried our bags.

It was a great feeling as we got out of the car, the air was fresh with a cool breeze, and we saw many ducks swimming in the pond on the side, which was most calming.

We were accompanied to our unit, and the architecture reminded me of entering a church.

The sizeable air-conditioned room was spacious, with a large bath and toilet attached. An ironing facility in the room was available. A flat small TV with satellite channels was available. A kettle with all facilities to enjoy tea or coffee was at hand. A hair drying and a writing desk were also available.

A small fridge was installed with a stock of beverages.

Nothing was lacking in the room, and we had a peaceful glorious weekend in this resort.

Now let’s do a round to view this well-planned boutique type of resort.

You must try Sri Lankan breakfast when you visit Sri Lanka for a holiday. The delicacies are hoppers, which needed to be prepared as we did not request them prior. We enjoyed the delicious string hoppers and a variety of curries to go with them. The breakfast was sumptuous and most satisfying.

We had a most peaceful weekend holiday at Liyya waters.

When you visit Sri Lanka, visit this resort in Dambulla and take back happy memories.

Hope you enjoyed this video clip as much as we enjoyed our holiday. Stay safe. Goodbye for
now.
