Bangkok Cruise-by Dr Harold Gunatillake

A magical night on the Chao Phraya Princess V, gliding through Bangkok’s illuminated skyline.
A night of pure fun on the Chao Phraya River.
I am in Bangkok, spending a night on the Chao Phraya Princess V, which feels. like a floating festival. As Bangkok’s skyline lit up around us—Wat Arun glowing like a lantern, the Grand Palace shimmering in gold, and the Rama VIII Bridge stretching across the river like a ribbon of light—the real magic unfolded on board.
Indian families turned the deck into a joyful celebration, dancing Bollywood- style with a freedom and happiness that filled the entire cruise. Men, women, and kids moved together in rhythm, laughter carrying over the music and the river breeze
Between the energy of the crowd and the beautifully arranged dinner spread, the cruise became more than a sightseeing trip—it became
a night of connection, colour, and pure delight on the Chao Phraya River. The cruise became a perfect mix of culture, food, and festive spirit.
