The Turks of Ceylon; who introduced Unani medicine to Sri Lanka? | Lost and Forgotten References; * Jamaldeen’s stay in Ceylon – Hassen Ahmed Maniker’s “Conversion of Maldives to Ceylon” (1987), Shukri (2015), & Carl Muller “Children of the Lion” (1997) * In 1564, a delegation was sent from Ceylon to meet Turkish warlord Lufti. (Pearson, 1976; Casale, 2010). * Ottomon mosques in Ceylon (Casale, 2010). * Ceylonese Muslims sent frequent deputations to Ottoman Mecca (Sir Edward Creasy, 1878). * Schooner carrying Afghans/Turks arrived in Ceylon in the 16th century (McGilvray, 2008; The Matatakkalappu Manmiyam ( The Glory of Batticaloa ) ed . F. X. C. Nadarajah 1962 * Ottomans sent troops to crush the Kaffirs/ Portuguese (Reid, 1969). * Turks in Dutch Ceylon. (Journal of Spilbergen, 1602; R.K. De Silva, 1988; Obeyesekere, 2017; Wright, 1907). * Turks in British Ceylon (Percival, 1805; Ferguson, 1912; Virchow, 1888; Denham, 1912). * Muslims in Ceylon, British Bengal and Philippines identified as “Moors”. (Pieris, 1918).
