A Magical Christmas Eve – By Dodwell Keyt

Christmas - elanka

Once upon a time in the small town of Rosebud, there lived two young girls named Sally and Kelli. Rosebud is a picturesque town on the Mornington Peninsula; its charm is even more pronounced during the holiday season. Sally and Kelli loved Christmas more than anything, but this year was different. They were to spend Christmas with Kelli’s grandparents in Daylesford.

On Christmas Eve, they took a stroll through the enchanting town square, adorned with twinkling lights and festive decorations. As they wandered through the festive streets, they noticed an old bookstore they had never seen before. The sign above the entrance read, “The Enchanted Pages.”

Intrigued, Sally pushed open the creaky door and entered the cosy bookstore. A warm scent of cinnamon filled the air inside, and shelves upon shelves of books lined the walls. The elderly shopkeeper, Mr Dickens, welcomed them with a twinkle in his eye.

“Ah, visitors on Christmas Eve! You’re in for a treat,” he exclaimed.

Sally browsed through the aisles and stumbled upon an old, dusty book titled “The Magic of Daylesford.” As she opened its pages, a soft glow emanated from the book, and she found herself and Kelli transported into a winter wonderland.

In this magical world, talking animals adorned in festive attire danced through the snow-covered streets of Daylesford. Yes, snow had covered the streets of Daylesford in the middle of summer. That is magical!

The trees sparkled with lights that blinked to the rhythm of the holiday music playing in the air. Sally realised she had stepped into the pages of the book, and her heart filled with joy.

As the girls explored this enchanting realm, they encountered a group of cheerful elves preparing for the grand Christmas celebration. They explained that the magic of Christmas depended on the joy and kindness spread by the hearts of everyone. However, this year, the town’s spirit was waning.

Determined to bring back the festive spirit, the girls joined the elves in their efforts. They decorated homes, sang carols, and delivered gifts to the inhabitants of Daylesford. Slowly but surely, the town sparkled with holiday cheer once again.

Amid their efforts, the girls discovered that the magic of Christmas was driven by the love and generosity of people. As the clock struck midnight, the town square transformed into a breathtaking display of lights, and a magnificent Christmas tree appeared at its centre.

Sally and Kelli felt a warm breeze, and suddenly, they found herself back in The Enchanted Pages bookstore with Sally holding the magical book. Mr Dickens smiled knowingly.

“You’ve brought the magic back to the town, my dear. The people of Daylesford are grateful for your kindness,” he said.

With hearts full of joy, Sally and Kelli thanked Mr Dickens and left the bookstore. As they walked through the enchanted streets of Daylesford, they could hear laughter and festive music echoing in the air.

When they returned home, it surprised them to find their parents waiting for them. Their parents had planned to spend Christmas together with the whole family, cherishing the true spirit of the season; love, kindness, and the magic that lies within every heart. And so, in the small town of Daylesford, Christmas became even more enchanting, thanks to two little girls named Sally and Kelli and the magic they discovered in the pages of a special book.
