DESMOND KELLY

“CRYPTIC CYRELLIC” – by Des Kelly With our Sincere thanks to Keith Bennett, via Alan Benson, and, or Keating, as the case may be, let me now WARN ALL HACKERS, of our  e’mails of late, don’t try to get in, thru any (back gate), as e’Lanka will stop you, & your”cryllic alphabet”, Latin-Letters still stand out, as the best that we can get. Let us now forget the poetry and try to emphasise on the fact that e’mail addresses, in this day & age, are of the most importance, & so,  please peruse every alphabetical letter of the emails you receive, in order to ascertain that  HACKERS will try their hacking with someone else, the next time. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’Lanka. I wouldn’t have noticed this . . . Dear All, A scam warning – thanks to Alan Keating for bringing it to our attention. ...

“ANIMAL ANTICS” – by Des Kelly   More proof to show that animals in general have an inbuilt tendency to “get on, with each other” , much better than humans do. This is one of the most beautiful examples that I’ve had the pleasure of seeing, in a long time. Here’s hoping that our thousands of e’Lanka readers will enjoy this, as I have done. Yet again, another great e’Lanka story, coming to us from our friend Chris. Lawton (O.A.M.), on the odd behaviour of some animals on our planet. There seems to be nothing odd about it, our World is in chaos right now, and it seems to be affecting the animals, as well. Thank you Chris., for the story. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’Lanka. ...

“KELLY KLASSIC” – Heidi Hauge, Scandinavian Country – by Des Kelly   Queen sings for you. This used to be a Tanya Tucker favourite of mine until I heard Heidi’s version. Now I am certain that any Cowboy would be more than thrilled to hear Heidi sing  “It’s a Cowboy-lovin night”. Over to you, Heidi Hauge. ...

VALE – DORIS THURGOOD – by Des Kelly In among all the happy & hopeful news that e’Lanka strives to bring it’s many members & readers, occasionally, there are extremely sad ones that have to be told.  Personally, I have been privileged to know the Thurgood family for years and since a very young (Elvis) Ricky Thurgood, a talented jockey was incapacitated after a tragic fall from his horse, at a meeting, many many years ago, his Mum, the now late Doris, and Dad, Noel, decided that they would rather look after him at home, than send him anywhere else to be (hopefully), cared-for. Ricky was to stay-home. This, Doris & Noel did, to the best of their ability, giving up  much of the  freedoms afforded to luckier parents, just to be with their Son.  Ricky, therefore lived in as much comfort as was humanly possible, until, still at a ...

“PONDERISMS” – by Des Kelly More very interesting facts of life, as they are. Happening around us all the time, causing what I’ve called “Ponderisms”, sent to e’Lanka with thanks going out to both Keith Bennert and Desmond Donpaul.   Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’Lanka.   THINGS TO PONDER   1. The nicest thing about the future is that it always starts tomorrow. 2. Money will buy a fine dog, but only kindness will make him wag his tail. 3. If you don’t have a sense of humour, you probably don’t have any sense at all. 4. Seat belts are not as confining as wheelchairs. 5. A good time to keep your mouth shut is when you’re in deep water. 6. How come it takes so little time for a child who is afraid of the dark to become a teenager who wants to stay out all night? 7. Business conventions are important ...

Another Kelly Klassic – “Amy Grant – Look at Us” by Des Kelly   Definitely one of my favourites. A beautiful Country Song sung by Vince Gill to his wife, (Watch Amy Grant, she’s beautiful too), so I decided to do my own “cover” BUT had to sing it an octave lower, cos Vince sings it in a key, impossible for most male vocalists. Anyway, please watch one of the very best “Kelly-Klassics” ever. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’Lanka.  ...

“NOTA BENE’— NOTE WELL”!! – by Des Kelly Image Source:GloHoliday “And, so we learn. An English Proverb states:- We are students to the grave. —  How true is this ??., and now I have been taught a most beautiful Australian Aboriginal Proverb, which I feel, MUST be also taught to you, my friends @e’Lanka around the globe.  This one states :- We are all visitors, in this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our PURPOSE here, is to observe, to learn, to grow, and then, WE RETURN HOME.  Proverbs, be they in ANY language, are ALWAYS a superb LEARNING- CURVE, & I never ever fail to be intrigued by them. “We live & learn”. “THE KELLY CLAN” – by Des Kelly The story of Matthew (Matt) Kelly is extremely interesting to me, in that, for starters, the photograph of Matt, as a young man, reminds me of my late dad, Carlo, who, like me, were born in Ceylon (1910, & 1936.) My grandfather John Robert (Jack) was born in Dublin, migrating to Ceylon during the early 1900’s, to marry my grandmother, a very pretty young Marion Foenander, who, in turn, had two daughters, Doreen & Marion, plus one son, Robert Carl (Carlo), my beloved late dad.  ...
