The Duwili Ella waterfall in the Rajawaka Forest Reserve in Balangoda is one of the most enchanting waterfalls in Sri Lanka. To reach this waterfall, you have to travel 32 kilometres along the Balangoda-Kalthota road and then turn right and travel along the tarred road running across a thick jungle with some of the rarest trees and bushes endemic to Sri Lanka.

One of the finest and beautiful mountainscapes is the Duwili Ella falls. The height of the waterfall is 40 metres. For nature lovers, a visit to this natural waterfall is one of the unforgettable experiences since all the pristine forms of the environment create a scenic location around the falls.

It is said that this waterfall was first discovered by an English Governor who was visiting elephants in the surrounding area.

The waterfall is maintained by the Balangoda Pradeshiya Sabha. Villagers said that only a few tourists visit this place due to non- availability of infrastructure facilities.

They said that the Ministry of Tourism should look into the shortcomings at these tourist destinations to popularise them among local and foreign tourists.
