It’s my pleasure to inform you that I’ll be instituted as Vicar of St Peter’s church, Murrumbeena on July 20 : 2024 @ 4.00 pm by The Right Reverend Genieve Blackwell | Assistant Bishop | Marmingatha Episcopate
Anglican Diocese of Melbourne.

I’ll be grateful to you, if you could attend this service of commissioning to encourage me to start this ministry in Melbourne.

Your presence at this act of worship would create a positive impression of our wider community irrespective of our ethnic, religious & other identities in Melbourne & elsewhere.

I’m sure that this ministry in Murrumbeena in the Archdiocese of Melbourne will be a mutual enrichment for us to make our lives meaningful & effective in this area.

Rt. Rev. Keerthisiri Fernando, the former 6th Bishop of the Diocese of Kurunagala in the Church of Ceylon, will be officially instituted as the Vicar of St Peter’s Church in Murrumbeena. The ceremony is scheduled for July 20, 2024, at 4:00 PM and will be led by The Right Reverend Genieve Blackwell, Assistant Bishop of the Marmingatha Episcopate in the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne.

In an announcement made by Fernando, he expressed his gratitude and extended an invitation to the community to attend the service of commissioning. “Your presence at this act of worship would create a positive impression of our wider community irrespective of our ethnic, religious, and other identities in Melbourne and elsewhere,” he stated. Fernando emphasized the significance of community support in starting his new ministry in Melbourne.

He also highlighted the potential for mutual enrichment through this ministry, hoping it would make a meaningful and effective impact in the Murrumbeena area and beyond.

Keerthisiri Fernando, who has a longstanding commitment to serving communities, looks forward to this new chapter in his ministry. He is confident that his experience and dedication will contribute positively to the life of St Peter’s Church and its congregation.

The Church of Ceylon and the Diocese of Kurunegala are proud to congratulate and pray for former Bishop Keerthisiri Fernando as he begins his new ministry overseas. This is a significant moment in the church’s history, as one of its former bishops is now serving an international congregation.
