“FUNNY FILL-INS” – By Des Kelly

As everyone knows, there are Comedians, Comediennes, Comics, and Comedic Writers, many baring their stuff on Facebook, which is MOSTLY nothing much to write home about, but now and again, we see some Funny Fill-ins which, unless you are a Funeral Director, should make you laugh a little. Talking about these sad folk (the Funeral Directors, I mean),

There is this story about young Johnny who had never missed a single day at School for all of three years, and then suddenly, he was absent for three consecutive days. His teacher’s first words to Johnny on his return- “why were you absent for three whole days, Johnny ??, Johnny’s answer was immediate. “Sorry Sir, but my father got burnt”. The teacher replied “Oh, sorry to hear that young John, was he badly burnt” ??. Johnny’s answer to this, was

“Well Sir, they don’t muck around at the crematorium”.

Getting back to a few more Funny Fill-ins, let me thank my friend Keith Bennett for sending this “post” in. I enjoyed it, and decided that our eLanka readers would get a chuckle or three from them. Might help the lockdown to be eased, even if only for a few minutes.

          Desmond Kelly.

Previous Article Swing Along with the Spitfires Budrian Musafer My "stage" career commenced around 1960, at the age of 18. Appeared on stage shows presented by Tina Maria, Priya, Decima and Malcolm Andree at the Atlanta and the Kandy Lake Club. Then went on to sing with various pop bands - "The Sombreros", "Sound Tracks" and a few others. In 1966, I was invited by Nizam Adahan to listen to a band called the 'Spit‑res' - at rehearsals - where he was the lead guitarist. I tried out a song with Conrad de Silva, who was their male vocalist and our voices blended in harmony... well that was the beginning of "Conrad & Budrin with the Spit‑res". This was the part of my musical career that I enjoyed the most. The band went through many changes with the addition of Dalreen. When Conrad left and joined the Jetliners, Desmond de Silva and Sohan Pieris joined the Spit‑res. In 1972, I had to choose between music and my profession in the airline trade and opted for the latter. However, I stayed in touch with the entertainment business Patrick Ranasinghe Remembering Buddy Musafer RIP – by Patrick Ranasinghe
