Gratefulness – by Charmaine Candappa
We sometimes forget to be grateful to the people who have traveled miles and years alongside of us, who have quieted our tears and shared our joys. They are angels in our lives, and our time here on earth would have been desolate without them. I dedicate this to my parents, a few close friends, and my soul mate. I hope that I can carry these sentiments with me beyond each day. I pause often and reflect on the gifts in my life. I am glad that I have been born with the gratitude gene. Gratitude is best practiced in small ways, just been thankful for my creativity, my writing, and my fitness class. I write down my thoughts and thankfulness to my Creator in my Gratitude journal. Last night the full moon floated outside my window. When I woke up the next morning, I saw the glass mobiles hanging outside my patio, glimmering each day in the morning sunlight. It is so easy to be grateful for such beauty. As evening was falling and the moon was just emerging, I was walking on the trail, the sky was ablaze with color, a deep red, and shades of dark pink and orange, I kept following its sight, thanking God for my sight, and my sensors. I saw a mother and her young son. The boy running around on the grass with his dog, who was happily rolling on the ground so it could climb on the boy and lick him. I laughed at the sheer joy of boy and dog rolling on the ground, and when I walked away I was thankful for laughter, and the simple joys in life.
